And just like that we've stepped into 2025! I love the start of the year, a fresh start. Time to de-clutter, open that brand new diary (stationery addicts you know the feeling!) and manifest the best year of your life. This is when the countdown truly begins for our 2025 brides and grooms - your year has arrived.
This issue, we’ve plenty to inspire. Experts in their field, we talk to venue stylists about what trends they think will be huge – we’re talking disco balls, bright, oversized florals and bows – my personal fav! Our photography feature is packed with photo inspo, true artists in their field, we’re spoilt for choice in Essex. Styles can vary so much from editorial portraits to traditional to completely candid snaps, so do take a look at their online galleries, social media accounts or ping them an email – they’re a friendly bunch!
I’ve also caught up with three couples, all recently wed, who have kindly talked us through their big days – all so different and beautiful – a true reflection of their personalities. Looking through the galleries of your real weddings is the highlight of my job, so please do keep ’em coming.

Old Essex Barn
This beautifully restored barn exudes charm and elegance. With its exposed beams, vaulted ceilings, and ambient lighting, the barn provides a captivating backdrop for your ceremony or reception. Venture to Old Essex Barn and get lost in the Essex countryside. The outside area features a picturesque pond, great for couple shots on the day. Guests will enjoy taking a stroll through the beautiful gardens.
Ceremonies can take place in two locations at Old Essex Barn. The main barn, built in the 15th century, is oozing with character, restored beautifully with capacity for 100 guests. Outdoor ceremonies can take place in the venue’s charming pergola, providing a lost garden feel as you say your ‘I dos’ amongst nature, holding up to 120 guests. The evening reception takes place in the main barn with its own stage area for DJs or live bands. The capacity of the main barn in the evening is 200 guests.
The covered terrace area included in the hire! Plus, accommodation and a preparation room is offered for the day of your wedding.
