On the 19th of May, Park View Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, was honoured to welcome the Witham Carnival Queens and Princesses for a delightful visit, bringing joy and excitement to the residents. The Wellbeing Lead, Diane, organised this special event, which allowed all the residents to meet and interact with the lovely Queens and Princesses. This visit is an annual tradition that the residents eagerly look forward to each year.
Diane shared her enthusiasm about the visit, stating, "The carnival queens visit our home every year, and the residents really enjoy their visits. The Queens and Princesses answer all the questions the residents have. This is a really special day for the residents, as they enjoy looking at the lovely dresses the Carnival Court wears. The Carnival Court all walked around the home, and residents enjoyed asking questions about their roles."
The girls from the Carnival Court expressed their excitement about the visit and promised to look out for Park View Care Home on the day of the carnival which takes place on the 13th of July. They even mentioned they would give Park View a special shout-out during their parade in the park. Joce, who is 101 years old, said, "It was such a nice day to see all the lovely young ladies dressed up in their beautiful dresses."
Diane added, "I am looking forward to Witham Carnival again this year and cheering the girls on."
This visit underscores the importance of community engagement and the joy it brings to everyone involved. The interaction between the residents and the Carnival Court highlights the strong community spirit and the mutual respect and admiration shared between Park View Care Home and the Witham Carnival organisation.
